NEW COUNCIL  MEMBERS

We would like to welcome our 3 newest members to Holy Guardian Angels Knights of Columbus Council 14847. These new members attained their 1st Degree on Sunday June 12, 2011 at an exemplification ceremony held in our meeting room in the Holy Guardian Angels Rectory Center.  Our new members are:

David Howk, James Harper III & Dr. Philip Baney

FIRST DEGREE TEAM PRACTICE and PROGRESS

Our council's First Degree Team had their organizational meeting and first rehearsal in April 2011. We have made great progress and we are hoping to be certified to run our first exemplification in the fall.  As a side note, our council hosted our first exemplification in the HGA Rectory Center meeting room on June 12, 2011.  Our First Degree Team was supposed to run this ceremony, however, we were not able to be certified in time.  The exemplification ceremony instead was run by Reading Council 793.  Because his son was to receive his first degree, James Harper Jr. (Grand Knight for Council 14847's First Degree Team) received permission to serve as the ceremonial Grand Knight for this exemplification.

UPDATE  September 14, 2011 - Our previously announced First Degree ceremony scheduled for Sunday September 25, 2011 has been postponed.  Please check back to this site for more details about the re-scheduled date.

UPDATE - During the weekend of September 3 and 4, 2011 we held a Membership Blitz at HGA during all masses on this weekend.  KofC Council 14847 informational pamphlets were handed out to ALL gentlemen as they exited the church from each mass.

On Sunday September 18, 2011 during the 10:00am mass at Holy Guardian Angels, we celebrated the 2nd Anniversary of our charter as HGA Council 14847 Knights of Columbus.  We had 18 or so Knights and their families participate.  Thanks to ALL of those that attended.

Additionally, on Tuesday evening September 20, 2011 we held an "Open House" for any gentlemen that wanted to receive additional information about the Knights of Columbus and our council in particular.  We had modest response but overall the "Open House" went well.

9/1/2010 - Holy Guardian Angels Council 14847 Announces Leadership Changes
A new Grand Knight and Deputy Grand Knight were elected during the Council General Membership Meeting in the HGA Rectory on Wednesday evening, September 1, 2010.  The election followed a presentation by the District Deputy that Grand Knight Mark Ambruster and Deputy Grand Knight Les White stepped down from their positions for family, personal, and business reasons.

Newly elected Grand Knight Lynn Adams and Deputy Grand Knight Christopher Polk immediately praised the hard work and diligent efforts on the part of their Brother Knights Mark Ambruster and Les White in their charter efforts to lay the foundation of an award winning council.  Their untiring leadership example shall serve as a guideline for Knights of Columbus Council 14847 to follow into the future.

10/6/2010 - On October 6, 2010 at our General Membership meeting, additional elections were held to fill vacancies brought on by a series of untimely resignations due to personal issues of the affected members.  Brian Gasser was elected to the position of 3rd Year Trustee, Bob Mitchell was elected to the position of Outside Guard, and Grand Knight Lynn Adams appointed Rick Mersinger to the position of Lecturer.  The Lecturer position was previously vacated by Chris Polk after he was elected to the position of Deputy Grand Knight at our September meeting.

* Special Note - One of the requirements for receiving the "Columbian Award" is that every member should fill out a "Survey of Fraternal Activity" worksheet.  Deputy Grand Knight Chris Polk distributed these forms to all of those in attendance at our general membership meeting on December 1st.  If you haven't received one of these worksheet forms or if you have lost or misplaced yours, you can click on the link below and print out a copy to return to Chris.  This worksheet needs to be returned by our January 5, 2011 general membership meeting.  When filling out this worksheet....remember, there is no right/wrong or minimum requirement.  Just fill out as fairly and honestly as possible.
